Registration for Disney Lorcana Challenges Starts This Sunday

Details are out for both North America and Europe’s Challenges, and signups are about to begin. Here’s everything you need to know!

The first 2 Disney Lorcana Challenge events for both North America and Europe were first announced 2 days ago during the first ever Lorecast, where we first got event dates and prize information for the events.

Format

The Disney Lorcana Challenge events announced so far are held as a 2-day event, using the exact same format. Details are as follows:

Saturday:
9 rounds of Swiss*
Games will be played in 2-game Constructed Swiss
End of the day the Top-32 players will proceed to Top Cut.

Sunday:
Top 32 players Single Elimination
Day-2 games will be played in Best-Of-3 Rounds

Swiss will be held in 2-game rounds which consists of the following rules:

  • A round is 2 games long or until time is called. (following the standard end-of-round procedures)
  • A player earns 1 point for their ranking per game they win in the round.
  • If a player wins both games, they earn an additional bonus point for a total of 3 points in the round.
  • At the start of the match a die is rolled, the winner of this roll, decides whether they want to start game 1 or game 2 of their match. The other player will start the match that is not selected by the winner of the die roll.

Product Legality

Richelle from Ravensburger has shared that for Challenges, sets have to be released at least 3 weeks prior in LGS (1 week prior for mass release) before they are legal to be used in Challenges.

This means that Ursula’s Return (set 4) will not be legal for the first few challenges since it is released within that period.
