We have an official response from Ravensburger and they are calling Upper Deck’s complaint “baseless” and “without merit”!
In response to the Upper Deck complaint against Disney Lorcana, Ravensburger has given an official response on Twitter after the previous initial statement given via ComicBook as follows.
“We at Ravensburger stand behind the integrity of our team and the originality of our products. The baseless claims filed this week are entirely without merit, and we look forward to proving this in due time.”
The Upper Deck complaint has been filed and can now be found on the San Diego Superior Court Register of Actions under case number 37-2023-00023805.
The date filed is stated as June 7, which is the same day Upper Deck made the initial statement online.
The contents of the complaint are shown above, which include the complaint. Checking the file, it is confirmed that the complaint which was filed is the exact same as the one that was previously shared by The Toy Book (UDCv.MillerComplaint), including the spelling error of “Locana” and wrong information that packs have already been sold on page 7.
In addition, Jeremy Lee of the YouTube Channel Sports Cards Live has shared that there will be a stream on Saturday June 10 at 7pm PST, where he will be speaking to Upper Deck Sports President Jason Masherah on his stream, which will include talking about the complaint filed by Upper Deck. Check out the stream linked here.
