Lorcana Challenge Events Expand Player Cap

Player caps for all Disney Lorcana events will be increased, reaching over 2,000 for Atlanta and Lille!

Disney Lorcana Challenge Events were announced a couple of weeks back with caps of 500 players and registration opened for Atlanta and Lille but both events sold out all 500 slots almost instantly. In response to the high demand, the Lorcana team has just announced a player cap increase for all events.

Atlanta & Lille Challenge

Both the Atlanta, Georgia and Lille, France Challenge events will be resuming ticket sales in the next few days, with a player cap increased to 2,048 players.

Atlanta: Tickets sales will resume this Sunday on April 7 and will be made available to players only to those on the current waitlist in waves. Players on the waitlist will receive an email which will provide them with a 24-hour window to purchase their tickets. Players who miss that window will have their slots made available to another player on the waitlist.

The Atlanta event will also be moved across the street to the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC). Even though a convention will be happening there the same weekend, the Lorcana team ensures everyone that there will be clear signage for the Challenge event and players will not need to purchase any additional tickets or badges.

Lille: Additional tickets will go on sale Monday on April 8 at 20:000 CEST on Tournament Center’s ticket page.

Player Cap & Prize Increase

All Challenge event player caps will also increase in size from the original limits of 500, some larger than others. At minimum, player caps will be doubled, and increased higher should venue capacity allow.

The number of invites given out to the Continental Championship and promo card prizing will also be increased in scale when the player count reaches 1025 or higher. More details will be shared later with the final prize list.

Ticket Sales Through Melee

Future ticket sales will all be handled through Melee (the official Lorcana tournament platform) to ensure all players who purchase tickets will also be using that same account to register for the challenge event. In addition, the current ticket sales will also be cross referenced with Melee accounts.

This is a welcome move as it would help to remove scalpers from the ticket sales since players purchasing the ticket will essentially be registering for the event at the same time with their details.

More Challenge Events

Due to the high demand, the Lorcana team has also announced that there will be more Challenge events that will be held prior to the Continental Championship. More details will be announced at a later date.

In addition to these announcements, the Lorcana team said “Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked towards addressing this incredible demand for Disney Lorcana Challenge events. The entire team wants to do the best we can for our players, so please bear with us as we work through these early stages. We’re humbled by your excitement and can’t wait to see you at Disney Lorcana Challenge events this year.”

To everyone who were unable to secure a ticket during the initial registration, this is great news since it allows for many more players an opportunity to take part in the very first competitive circuit for Disney Lorcana, all for a chance to enter the very first World Championship that will be held in early 2025.
