Getting A Closer Look At Japanese Lorcana Cards At Tokyo Toy Show

Need to see even more Japanese Lorcana cards? Mushu Report has you covered!

Earlier this week, we got an official announcement that Japanese Lorcana is getting an official release in January 2025, and there was even a booth at the Tokyo Toy Show this week.

As luck would have it, I was in Tokyo for the week and had already planned a trip to the Tokyo Toy Show, so here are more pictures of the booth and close ups of some of the cards!

First up, everyone headed to the booth receives this flyer, sharing information about the upcoming Japanese release, features Elsa, Mickey and Maleficent, and shows the upcoming products!

Also, everyone visiting the Takara Tomy booth gets a copy of the Mickey Mouse – True Friend Japanese promo!

On to the booth, we of course have the Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Tailor frame for everyone to take a photo with, but with its Japanese name and text!

And of course standees featuring many of everyone’s favourites from The First Chapter!

And this is the booth’s highlight for me, we got part of The First Chapter cards revealed for Japanese! Due to time concerns, I was unable to get pictures of every single card but I picked some of everyone’s favourites to feature below!

First up, we have some of everyone’s favourite characters from TFC, now in Japanese!

Personally I found it interesting and also really liked that they chose to use 変身 (Henshin) for the Shift keyword in Japanese. That phrase is typically used to mean transform, and is probably most well known in Japan for Kamen Rider where the Rider all shout “Henshin!” as they transform. Definitely feels like they took the Japanese culture into consideration when they did the localisation which I love.

Here are more character cards to check out, with Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer and Flynn Rider – Charming Rogue!

Song cards were also on display, and all of them feature the original English names of the songs, with a translation of the song name above.

This does make me wonder though, if song cards that do not use the song’s name such as Grab Your Sword and Sudden Chill will get the same treatment. None of those were on display though, so I guess we will find out next year!
