Ran out of time during a game and you are not sure how to decide who won the game? Here is some information for how to determine the winner!
Team Lorcana shared more information today on the LorcanaHQ Discord with info on End of Match procedures. Credits to Cabled for helping to get the information.
The following information has also been added to the Wiki for easy reference.
There are times when a Best of 3 Match will not be completed when time is called in the round. During times like this, the following procedures can be applied.
Do note the following:
- The End of Match procedure below only apply to 2 player games and do not apply to Multiplayer games.
- The Official Tournament Guidelines have not yet been released, so this page will be updated accordingly at that time.
End of Match Procedure – Swiss Rounds
This End of Match procedure will be implemented during the Swiss Rounds segment of the event. Draws are allowed during this segment of the event.
If time is called during a Game
- The turn player completes their current turn.
- Following the completion of that turn, conduct 5 additional turns starting from the opponent’s turn.
- If the Win Condition (a player reaches 20 Lore or the opponent/s is no longer able to draw from their Deck) is met within these turns, the Game ends as normal.
- If the Win Condition is not met, the Game is considered to be a Draw.
How to determine the winner of the Match
- After the Game is concluded, the player with the most Game Wins is declared the winner of the Match.
- If both players have 1 Game Win and the 3rd Game ends in a Draw, the Match is considered to be a Draw.
End of Match Procedure – Single Elimination Rounds
This End of Match procedure will be implemented during the Single Elimination Rounds segment of the event. Draws are not allowed during this segment of the event.
If time is called during a Game
- The turn player completes their current turn.
- Following the completion of that turn, conduct 5 additional turns starting from the opponent’s turn.
- If the Win Condition (a player reaches 20 Lore or the opponent/s is no longer able to draw from their Deck) is met within the additional turns, the game ends as normal.
- If the Win Condition is not met within the additional turns, the Game and Match is determined according to the Game that is currently underway.
How to determine the winner of the Game and Match
- If it is currently the 2nd Game of the Match, the Game ends in a Draw and the Match is won by the player who won the 1st Game.
- If it is currently the 1st or 3rd Game of the Match, the amount of Lore both players possess are checked and the player who possesses more Lore wins that Game.
- After that Game is concluded, the player with the most Game Wins is declared the winner of the Match.
Additional Note
Currently there are no further details on what procedure should take place during Single Elimination Rounds if it is currently the 1st or 3rd Game of the Match and both players have the same total amount of Lore after the additional turns are completed.
It is presumed that additional turns would be required to function as a tiebreaker to determine the winner of the game. However, there are no further details regarding this at the moment.
Single-elimination rounds: If neither player has won the game at the end of turn five and both players have the same number of game wins and the same lore, the match continues until one player has more lore than the other. Once this happens, the player with the highest lore wins the game immediately.
