Card Highlights

These are the best cards from this deck that give you the best chance to win the game.
- PERDITA (Playful Mother) – Drawing this card in the mid game is a huge advantage. It can save you ink while you make moves as you will only pay less than two ink for your next puppy character whenever this quests. You will be able to save ink on your other cards during your turn and enable you to play more than one card. Take advantage of this card’s ability to put a Ward on your puppy characters. You will want to keep prolonging this card’s presence on your board as much as possible.
- PERDITA (Devoted Mother) – Though Perdita (Devoted Mother) is a high-cost character card, it’s worth your ink. This is highly suggested to be played during your mid to end game to maximize its capability to reanimate your cards from your discard pile. By then you will most likely have enough cards that will help you rebuild your hand and potentially help you to win the game.
- DALMATIAN PUPPY (Tail Wagger) – Adding this card to your deck generates a considerable advantage. Why? While the maximum copy of each card for a deck is four, this card allows you to get or have ninety-nine copies to your deck. You have a 33% chance of drawing any given card with four copies in your opening hand of seven. But this deck we are looking at runs fifteen copies of Dalmatian Puppy (out of a possible 99).
That means 92.7% of starting hands will have at least one copy of Dalmatian Puppy. Costing only two ink to play, this guarantees you a follow-up to whatever you play on turn one. Also, Dalmatian Puppy has one lore. So the probability for you to win the game is more likely to be higher than average.
- THUNDERBOLT (Wonder Dog) – While this card is quite expensive, it costs five ink to be played. You can pay this for three ink to play on top of your puppy character via the Puppy Shift ability. You will be able to protect your puppy character card that you fear being banished by playing this card on top of it. This card will protect your puppies via the Bodyguard ability. You will be able to prolong the life of your more relevant characters especially those with long term benefits like Perdita.
- KANINE KRUNCHIES – This item card will help boost your puppy character card stats. It will increase your puppy character card’s Willpower by one. Making it more resilient and defensive.
Key Synergies
In every deck, you have a lot of opportunities to win the game. All you have to do is maximize the capability of your cards. Determine which combos will work best to your advantage. To win, you will have to be the first player to collect 20 Lore. Those cards listed above are the best but as you go along playing, you will discover which card generates the most value.
On Playing Emerald Instead of Sapphire
Some lists ditch Sapphire for Emerald and instead play Cruella de Vil – Miserable as Usual to be able to return characters to hand. Replacing Lucky Runt of the Litter which is potentially 2 additional cards winding up in your hand with Cruella, a conditional bounce effect seems like a bad deal. Requiring your opponent to interact with you to gain value instead of simply advancing your game plan is not something for a proactive deck like Puppies.
